Was found during an animal rescue sweep at Sinchona, following last year’s devastating earthquake. Hidden amongst debris, shivering from cold and fright, with an injury to her left eye, this beautiful older dog with the big side-way ears is now residing at our Sanctuary.

Spykee needs sponsorship; although she could be adopted to the right human who would spend lots of time with her in a quiet and loving home, we placed her in the more tranquil area of the Refugio’s animal shelter, considering her age, approximately 12 years, and all she has been through.

A.H.P.P.A. responds to Mother Nature’s wrath by sending our rescue teams throughout the city of San Jose and surrounding areas to rescue and treat the animals. Costa Rica endures many earthquakes, heavy rains and mudslides and we here at the Refugio take the responsibility of tending to the animals often left behind in the wake of natural disasters.
