June 5, 2011 – We are grateful and excited to announce our first Friends of Refugio donation to help animals in Costa Rica through AHPPA fundraiser. Many thanks to NT for her generosity of $150…a great kick-off to helping us reach our goal to raise $40,000 USD.
AHPPA was the first animal shelter in Costa Rica; it began twenty years ago as the only refuge for animals in this country. Since its humble beginnings, it has expanded with a full veterinary clinic, implemented two very effective programs to care for and reduce the proliferation of street dogs, and provide education and low-cost or no-cost vaccinations to local pet owners throughout Costa Rica.
The goal of this fundraiser, Friends of Refugio, is to continue to provide services to help animals in Costa Rica. 100% of funds raised will assist in their care including sponsoring the large number of dogs, cats and other small animals to cover costs of housing, food and medical attention. In addition, our shelter structure requires updating and improvements. Medical supplies and new equipment are paramount to providing quality medical care.

This fundraiser progress page will keep supporters and loyal fans updated on our efforts for the A.H.P.P.A. Friends of Refugio 2011-2012 fundraiser campaign. In addition to the website progress reports, you can keep up to date by signing up for our newsletter or joining us on Facebook.
Friends of Refugio fundraiser campaign coincides with the launching of this, our new website, scheduled for the end of May 2011. This campaign is our first real effort to raise funds online for the animal shelter in Costa Rica.
If you live here in Costa Rica, we hope you’ll come by the AHPPA animal shelter to visit and see all that we do to help the animals…especially if you are looking to adopt a cat or dog in need of love and a good home. The invitation is open to all…residents and visitors to Costa Rica!
Those whom are unable to visit but want to help our important work in treating, housing, caring for, and offering low cost services and adoptions please consider any one of our donations requests.
