Our Mission

A.H.P.P.A. is an animal shelter located in the mountains of San Rafael de Heredia, Costa Rica. The shelter has been committed to helping animals in Costa Rica for over twenty years.

The Refugio, as it is known locally, offers a full-service veterinary clinic, a Sanctuary for hard to adopt dogs, animal rescues, adoptions and our mobile Spay & Neuter Program. And much more.

The need for funding is great to keep things going here at the shelter. Our purpose is provide a resource for people wanting to help Costa Rica’s animals and continue to provide services for the benefit of the animals. Can you help? Please visit our donations page for further information.
